Esther Fenili 1941-1944 When Eastland moved to Swarthmore, Fenili was hired as head librarian. She was the daughter of Dr. Raphael Fenili who taught classical languages at Albright. She earned her degree at Columbia and in the years prior to getng her full tme job at Albright she was her father’s assistant. She resigned, however, afer one scholastc year to become an Italian professor at Vassar. Kenneth L. Raymond 1944-1945 Raymond was hired with a Bachelors of Arts degree, a Masters of Arts degree, and a Bachelors of Library Science degree. Like his last two predecessors he was only here as librarian for a year. The quick change in the library and college staf is atributed to the fact that the country was fghtng a war. Josephine E. Raeppel 1945-1972 Josephine Raeppel was hired with a Master of Arts degree as well as a Masters of Library Science degree, both from Columbia. She also had her Educaton degree from Oregon State College. She was hired as librarian in 1945, served here untl 1972. Dr. Raeppel worked with the contractors for the building of Gingrich Library, and organized the Great Move from Alumni Memorial Library to Gingrich Library in 1964. She was frst a librarian at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Josephine was given emeritus status when her successor came to Albright College.
